(The Magnus Report states he was killed 8 July, 1944.) Buried La Cambe (Normandy), 48/9/360A (Rosseels). His last five victories were scored on the invasion front, downing them on 6 June, 1944. Injured in Wk# 2208 on 15 September, 1942, when he force landed at Morgensbeck. Shot down with wounds by bomber return fire, and bailed safely, on 22 February, 1944 in his Fw 190A-8 Wk# 340275, crashing in the marshes at Dinteloord, NBrabant, Holland. Another source states his victories at 76. 33 victories in Russia. His first victory, a Spitfire northwest of Dunkirk, 28 May, 1940 while in 6/JG-51. His 2nd, a Spitfire NW of Dungeness on 7 July, 1940. His 3rd, a Hurricane at Tunbridge Wells on 25 October, 1940. His 4th, a Spitfire 25 km NW of London on 29 October, 1940. His 5th, a Spitfire over the Thames on 14 November, 1940. His first Soviet victory, a SB-2 on 22 June, 1941. Four Soviet victories on 26 July, 1941, 3 DB-3s and a Pe-2. His 60th, a B-17 at St. Dizier on 16 March, 1944. He scored five victories on 6 June, 1944 (D-Day); 3 Typhoons in the Caen area, a P-51 3 km NW of Evreux and the P-47 10 km WNW of Evreux.
