Aircrew Remembered is a large site covering many different subjects, including a huge collection of personal histories of aircrew from many nations and all eras. Each story was researched by us and represents a memorial to the lives mentioned and - obviously - each means something deeply personal to family members and friends. But you can also explore these stories and be touched and amazed yourself; find them under the Personal Histories menu. You can add your story of a friend or loved one by contacting us via the Helpdesk: our research team is waiting!

Check the databases where we have over 1 million personal entries! In many cases an entry in a single database will lead you onto related items in Personal Histories or in other databases, thus forming a web of information. Then check through the menus to find even more material. This is a site that rewards exploration. Enjoy!

Foreword from our friend Willi Weiss's book 'Western Front 45'

"While the names of political leaders and military generals dominate historical chronicles, wars are fought between common men. Men whose last choice would be to take another one's life, men who with every fiber of their being, strive just for survival. Men longing to return to a family they never thought they’d leave. They fight to protect the man next to them…for honor…and for duty. This duty many times can be of a very dubious origin. Yet they step forth into the Valley of Death. This my dear friends is courage. When men of courage from opposite sides find themselves face to face, they understand one another. Different countries, different languages, different goals is no hindrance. They know where each other comes from. Courage recognizes courage. The goal of this site is to show that this courage knows no country or age. These men sacrificed all that they might hopefully return to family in peace. We hope to tell a small part of their stories."
