Already in 1939 he flew in Poland, over France and England as captain of the 6th Squadron of the combat squadron 3 "Lützow". During the Eastern campaign he took command of the II/KG-3. As such, he destroyed 34 transport trains, bombed recognized enemy positions and recognized an enemy tank breakthrough during a reconnaissance flight in the Kirov area. Breu went on the attack and destroyed no less than 26 tanks. On 02.10.1942 Breu received the Knight's Cross for the three aircraft, which were still shot down by his crew. After the war, Breu established a successful petroleum wholesale business. Peter Paul Breu died on 02.08.2001 in Weingarten near Biberach. |

He suffered a skull fracture on 22 August, 1941, when he coillided on the ground with a Ju 52 at Ponjatowska in Bf 109F-2 Wk# 9184. He scored his first victory in 190A "Yellow 7" in July 1942. On 28 March, 1943, after downing a B-17, he was hit by return fire and crashed a Bf 109G-4 Wk# 14998, somersaulting on landing at Beaumont. On 5 Nov, 1943, he was forced to bail from Bf 109G-6 Wk# 20733. His A-7, WK# 430645 "Yellow 4" was lost 19 April, 1944 after he was forced to bail after combat with a P-47. Next AC was an A-8 Wk# 170071"Yellow 4". On 29 May 1944, he flew an A-8 Wk# 730386 "Red 24" in JG-1, colliding with Siebel. Eder succeded Emil Lang and remained with JG-26 until October 1944, when he joined "Kommando Nowotny", 9/JG-7, the first jet fighter unit. 10 victories in the East, including his first known Soviet victories, an I-16 and a SB-2 on 22 June, 1944. . 4 victories while serving in JG-26. 12 victories in the Me 262. Plus 3 Sherman Tanks and 18 unconfirmed victories. 572 combat missions, 150 in Me 262. Shot down 17 times, wounded 12 on these occasions! Deceased 11 March, 1986 in Wiesbaden. Bailed 9 times.
