An I-153, a P-40 and a LaGG-5 NE of the Louchi I airfield on 18 August, 1943. Two P-40s and two Il-2s SE of the Petsamo airfield on 25 November, 1943. Seven victories on 17 March, 1944. Five Soviet victories on 17 July, 1944. His 100th victory was a Hawker Typhoon, not usually seen that far North. He was one of JG-5s leading aces. Courtmartialed in November 1944 for the sinking of the battleship "Tirpitz" and deprived of his command of JG-5. His 201st victory, a B-17 NW of Dresden on 21 March, 1945. His 202nd, a B-17 in the Cottbus area on 22 March, 1945. Nos. 203 & 204, both B-24s over Chemnitz on 23 March, 1945. His 205th, a B-17 in the Dessau area on 24 March, 1945. No. 206, a P-51 of 361FG on 31 March, 1945. KIA 4 April, 1945, when out of ammunition, he rammed a B-17 (one of two B-17s this date) in "Green 2" near Schaarlippe by Stendal, his 208th and last victim! Nominated for the Swords. He is buried in Stendal.
