REASON FOR LOSS:

Taking off at 10:20 hrs with 11 others led by Sq/Ldr. I.G.S Matthew DFC to bomb the railcards at Roosendaal.

During the return trip he called up and said that he had been hit by flak. Shortly after this he called again and reported that his engine was about to stop and that he was going to attempt a crash landing. His No. 2 followed him down and saw him open the hood, but the aircraft continued in a gentle dive and crashed into a field.

Burial and other details:

Fl/Lt. Godfrey Addison Argument . Schoonselhof Cemetery. Grave IVa.D.14. Born on the 28th August 1921 on Toronto. Educated at Humberside Collegiate Institute. A student teacher prior to service. Enlisted on the 15th August 1940. Wings awarded on the 16th May 1941 at Dunniville and promoted to sergeant. Further training with 59 Operational Training Unit. Nearly completed two operational tours.

Son of Godfrey and Kathleen May Argument (Née Rook) brother of Vera, of 532 Windermere Avenue, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Husband of Ethel Josephine Argument (married on the 31sr March 1943), father of Barbara Kathleen, of 2 Almond Place, Fenham, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England. Epitaph: 'Always In Our Hearts'.
