The first pilot to sink a battleship, the Russian "Marat"on 23 September, 1941. His gunner this date was a Scharnovski. He is also credited with sinking 2 cruisers and destroying 532 Tanks. One known victory, an Il-18 at Staryy-Oshkol on 2 July, 1942, as an Ofw in 8/ZG-2 (if this was Hans!) He lost his right leg from Flak, but continued to fly. Shot down 30 times; wounded five times, yet survived the war. His R/O on his 1000th mission, Ofw Erwin Hentschel. A recipient of the Hungarian Medal for Bravery (among many others!). U.S. POW released April, 1946. Deceased 18 December, 1982 Rosenheim (P. Bastin).

He was a Luftwaffe stuka pilot who saw service in France, Battle of Britain, Balkans, Crete and Africa. Rudel had joined their group but their leader found Rudel unfit for operational flying! | ||

WIA on 3 September, 1942 when during an operation, he had to make an emergency landing near Vilslev, 7 km northwest of Ribe Denmark, due to engine failure. Remaining crew: Uffz Erwin Bormann, R/O and Ogefr Adam Gerhardt (geb 9/25/18), Mech. (KilledInAction (KIA)). During the landing, Gerhardt was thrown out of the AC, and was found under the wreckage when the AC was moved. Gruppenkommandeur Simon and Radop Uffz Hans Vogel (born 27/05/1920 in Dresden, CK) went down with the AC (Air War over Denmark). Added: Buried at Esbjerg/Denmark (CK). WIC 1 March, 1943 when, on a non-operational flight, his right engine caught fire and he made an emergency landing on the beach area north of Blaavand Denmark. He and Mech Fw Erwin Schröder were taken to a hospital in Esbjerg for treatment. On the return flight from an Intruder Mission over England, Alt spotted a dinghy in the water below and circled while the R/O sent out a distress signal to Air Sea Rescue. To the horror of the He 111 H-5 "5J + KS" Werknr 3883 , 8/KG-4 (A.Rosseels) crew in the dingy, the wingtip of the Ju 88 hit the water, sinking immediately, and taking the crew with it. The entire crew perished. Remaining crew (KIC): Uffz Hans Georg Suckow (geb 09/07/1920, Gumbinnen), R/O and Uffz Erwin Willi Korn (geb 11/10/1920, Bitigheim), Gunner. "One of the planes engines had suffered bearing damage, and partly because of this, the plane crashed". (A) women's shoes and a women's wristwatch were found at the crashsite". In 1990, Pasi interviewed two witnesses. One said the bodies were retrieved; the other said there were no bodies. Help appreciated! (Added by Pietrzak Youngs) Major Emil Badorrek (6 May 1910 - 26 December 1944) had participated in World War II from the invasion of Poland to Russia as a scout pilot using the Junkers Ju 88 aircraft. In September 1943 his plane was converted to Junkers Ju 188. He was awarded the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes # 947 dated 22 November 1943 as Hauptmann and Staffelkapitän 4. (Fern) Staffel / Aufklärungsgruppe 11 / Stab Fernaufklärungsgruppe 2 / Luftflotte 6, and Eichenlaub zum Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes # 652 dated 18 November 1944 as Major and Staffelkapitän 4. ( Fern) Staffel / Aufklärungsgruppe 11 / Stab Fernaufklärungsgruppe 2 / Luftflotte 6. These prestigious medals were received for their extraordinary dedication as scout pilots who always displayed courage in any difficult situation so they were able to carry out their duties well and bring valuable enemy position reports. Not only that, he also added a record of his achievements by destroying a number of vehicles and the position of land defense using his aircraft. The Junkers Ju 188D-2 "T5 + LK" (Werknummer 150492) which he piloted was shot down along with his crew (Leutnant Josef Reinardy, Oberfeldwebel Gerhard Siller and Oberfeldwebel Franz Felician) at 12:54 a.m. above Tomaszowice near Krakow (Poland) at the end in 1944. No one survived the incident. During his career Badorrek was noted to have participated in 580 combat missions. | |||
