35,000+ Entries in Database (as of October 2025): largest in the world
The only authorised publication of the Kracker Luftwaffe Archive: anything else has been stolen and infringes my copyright.

Please email us any photos you have. We will acknowledge you in the database unless requested otherwise.
This is a non-political research resource. The authors of this material do not condone hatred in any form,

There is a rogue group of copyright infringers who have stolen a much earlier version of my data - from at least 10 years ago - and have the affrontery to publish that, along with using my name, on their poorly researched website. They claim this is the 'original' Kracker Archive, a ridiculous claim since my Archive has been in a state of continuous development for over 30 years and nobody - NOBODY - has the original. They have no right to use my name or my data and readers who come across this nonsense should do nothing to encourage theft of this nature. I am outraged by this blatant theft and misrepresentation of my lifetime's work. The ONLY person I have ever authorized to publish my data and use my name is Kelvin Youngs, who earned my trust and respect many years ago and is authorized by me to publish my work on whichever website he organizes, currently this being its present home at the highly respected Aircrew Remembered.

According to personal accounts/statements and a late 1944 Press Release, which has never been corroborated, it has been reported he had 83 victories, including 17 four engine bombers. Seems strange I never ran across any victories for an RK Holder! The Bowers/Lednicer Ace Pilot List suggests 30 victories, all night victories. The Obermaier Knights Cross book states "Despite many efforts, it has not yet been possible to receive documents and detail about this possible Knights Cross". (I'd consider this entry bogus! TK). Added: Dr Theo Boiten has confirmed, this man never served in a Night Fighter unit. A fabrication!!

(Added by Pietrzak Youngs)
Oiva Emil Kalervo Tuominen (5 March 1908, Iitti – 28 January 1976, Helsinki) was a Finnish fighter ace and a Mannerheim Cross knight of the second class. He flew over 400 missions and shot down 44 Soviet aircraft. He was the most successful Finnish biplane fighter ace (flying Gloster Gladiators), and also the most successful Finnish Fiat G.50 pilot.

Tuominen was accepted into the Finnish Air Force as a mechanic in 1926. In 1933 he applied for pilot training. He was promoted to Sergeant and transferred to LeLv 26, a fighter squadron equipped with the Bristol Bulldog. In the Winter War Senior Sgt. Tuominen initially served with LeLv 24 flying the Fokker D.XXI. He opened his score on 25 December 1939 with a shared SB-2, and another 19 January. He was transferred back to LeLv 26 in February to fly the new Gloster Gladiator. His first flight with the new fighter on 2 of February 1940 saw combat against at least nine I-16s. Tuominen shot down two of the Soviet fighters. On 13 February 1940 he shot down three SB-2 of 39 SBAP and damaged a fourth. His Winter War score totalled eight, and four unconfirmed. As war erupted again in June 1941 Sgt. Tuominen had converted to the Italian Fiat G.50 monoplane. Tuominen was promoted to Sergeant-Major with his score at 18, and became the first FAF holder of the Mannerheim Cross on 18 August 1941. By April 1943 Flight Master Sergeant Tuominen had 31 victories, being transferred to HLeLv 34 equipped with the Bf 109G-2.

After the war Tuominen resigned from military service and became a taxi operator. He remained an active sports pilot well into old age. He died on 28 January 1976. (Source: Wikipedia)

KilledInAction (KIA) 26 December, 1944. One of two known Recon pilots to be awarded the Oak Leaves to the RK. The other was Hptm. Erwin Fischer.
(Added by Pietrzak Youngs)
Major Emil Badorrek (6 May 1910 - 26 December 1944) had participated in World War II from the invasion of Poland to Russia as a scout pilot using the Junkers Ju 88 aircraft. In September 1943 his plane was converted to Junkers Ju 188. He was awarded the Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes # 947 dated 22 November 1943 as Hauptmann and Staffelkapitän 4. (Fern) Staffel / Aufklärungsgruppe 11 / Stab Fernaufklärungsgruppe 2 / Luftflotte 6, and Eichenlaub zum Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes # 652 dated 18 November 1944 as Major and Staffelkapitän 4. ( Fern) Staffel / Aufklärungsgruppe 11 / Stab Fernaufklärungsgruppe 2 / Luftflotte 6. These prestigious medals were received for their extraordinary dedication as scout pilots who always displayed courage in any difficult situation so they were able to carry out their duties well and bring valuable enemy position reports. Not only that, he also added a record of his achievements by destroying a number of vehicles and the position of land defense using his aircraft. The Junkers Ju 188D-2 "T5 + LK" (Werknummer 150492) which he piloted was shot down along with his crew (Leutnant Josef Reinardy, Oberfeldwebel Gerhard Siller and Oberfeldwebel Franz Felician) at 12:54 a.m. above Tomaszowice near Krakow (Poland) at the end in 1944. No one survived the incident. During his career Badorrek was noted to have participated in 580 combat missions.
