V1.01 Data derived from many sources. Perfection is our goal: Corrections and Additions are encouraged and requested. Please Email us

35,000+ Entries in Database (as of October 2025): largest in the world
The only authorised publication of the Kracker Luftwaffe Archive: anything else has been stolen and infringes my copyright.

Please email us any photos you have. We will acknowledge you in the database unless requested otherwise.
This is a non-political research resource. The authors of this material do not condone hatred in any form,
neither do they support oppressive and despotic regimes or political systems. See our Statement

There is a rogue group of copyright infringers who have stolen a much earlier version of my data - from at least 10 years ago - and have the affrontery to publish that, along with using my name, on their poorly researched website. They claim this is the 'original' Kracker Archive, a ridiculous claim since my Archive has been in a state of continuous development for over 30 years and nobody - NOBODY - has the original. They have no right to use my name or my data and readers who come across this nonsense should do nothing to encourage theft of this nature. I am outraged by this blatant theft and misrepresentation of my lifetime's work. The ONLY person I have ever authorized to publish my data and use my name is Kelvin Youngs, who earned my trust and respect many years ago and is authorized by me to publish my work on whichever website he organizes, currently this being its present home at the highly respected Aircrew Remembered.

Destroyer Operational Clasp
Shot down with wounds in Werk # 6374, 9 October, 1943, near Kiel, opposing U.S. bombers during the Münster raids. One known victory, a B-17 NE of Vechta on 8 October, 1943. A 2nd, a B-17 on 9 October, 1943. Added: EP date per Vermeer EP Awards List. Added: As a test pilot he crashed the first Me 210Ca-1 off the Hungarian production line on 04/04/44 at Budapest-Ferihegy. The authorities thought it was sabotage and considered shooting him for it. As soon as he began to lift off, the landing gear retracted, causing him to crash heavily in a nearby field. He was unhurt. It was a malfunction of the control for the hydraulic system and the landing gear. The "Ship Aground" switch was installed upside down in the instrument panel, leading to it sending a signal to raise the landing gear as soon as it neared takeoff speed. Survived the war. (CK) Added: Flew with Radop Walter Stolz from 23-25/03/43 on diverse Ju-52 escorts and again from 06-15/04/43 and 18/04-09/10/43 on further escorts (among them a Me-323 escort on 08/04/43). So Stolz was in that year the main Radop of Zittier (CK)

KilledInAction (KIA) 20 April, 1945 during aerial combat in his D-9, only minutes after his 1st victory over a Spitfire of RCAF No. 401 Sq. over Sülte airfield. His only known victory, on the day of his death, another Spitfire of RCAF No. 401 Sq., also over the Sülte airfield. A good friend of Hans Kukla from their Fürstenau days, von Plazer had a premonition that he would not survive the war, after Kukla had been injured in January 1945. On March 31, 1945, he made a belly landing east of Münster after being hit by friendly flak while returning from a mission.
