Leushake was killed on the first pass, in the nose of the AC, his Observer position. Meyer was mortally wounded in the stomach (died the next day (CK) and Missys right leg was nearly severed from MG fire which raked the fuselage (his foot was amputated, the other leg was also broken. He was returned to Germany in 1943 due to compassionate reasons (CK). The two KilledInAction (KIA) crew members are buried in the German Military Cemetery at Cannock Chase, Staffordshire. Four parachutes were seen, however, the Red Cross reported that Lipsky and 5 others of the crew were POWs. This was recorded as the Luftwaffes first "kill" of an American heavy bomber.
