There is a rogue group of copyright infringers who have stolen a much earlier version of my data - from at least 10 years ago - and have the affrontery to publish that, along with using my name, on their poorly researched website. They claim this is the 'original' Kracker Archive, a ridiculous claim since my Archive has been in a state of continuous development for over 30 years and nobody - NOBODY - has the original. They have no right to use my name or my data and readers who come across this nonsense should do nothing to encourage theft of this nature. I am outraged by this blatant theft and misrepresentation of my lifetime's work. The ONLY person I have ever authorized to publish my data and use my name is Kelvin Youngs, who earned my trust and respect many years ago and is authorized by me to publish my work on whichever website he organizes, currently this being its present home at the highly respected Aircrew Remembered.

KIC 27 April, 1943 after taking off from Chateaudun when a bomb onboard exploded. Klaus buried at Champigny St Andre, Fr., Blk 16, Row 8, Gr 447. Remaining crew (all presumed Killed): Oblt Dietrich Melin, Co-pilot/Observer; Uffz Paul Zimmermann, R/O; Uffz Willi Zell and Ogefr Gerhard Willmann Mechanics and Flg Werner Hoffmann and Flg Albert Haak, Gunners. While in KGzvB 200, he and 17 other Fw 200s flew out of Stalingrad after von Paulus capitulated, despite orders for no further flights out. He had found two of his injured school mates and decided to disobey orders. He was put up for court martial, but the charge was dropped, as Germany was in need of heroes. Instead, he received one week special furlough. Only 9 of the 18 aircraft survived the flight out. (Flieger Blatt 1/2009)

On 19 March, 1945, he was shot down near Lingen by P-51s of 78th FG. He was able to bail out, but was allegedly shot to death while hanging in his parachute. He had flown as Wilhelm Hoffmanns wingman after Hoffmann lost an eye. He served as Hoffmanns "eyes" flying along side him on landings and takeoffs, judging the distances for Hoffmann. His 1st victory, aP-47 of 366FG W of Koblenz on 14 January, 1945. His 2nd, a B-26 (HSS) of 394BG E of Arnhem on 21 February, 1945. His 3rd, a P-47 of 406FG near München-Gladbach on 28 February, 1945. His 4th, a P-47 of 366FG near Mönchen-Gladbach on 1 March, 1945.

The AC ditched in the sea, approximately 600 yards off Withernsea. Two were taken prisoner. Remaining crew: Oblt z.See Paul Tholen, Observer (POW), Fw Willi Schreiber, wireless operator (KilledInAction (KIA)) and Ofw Alfred Hoffmann, mechanic (KilledInAction (KIA)). Schreiber and Hoffmann were being attended to by ASR inside the floating fuselage, when waves began breaking over the AC, and rescue efforts had to be aborted. The body of Ofw Hoffmann did wash ashore later in the day, and was buried at Brandesburton (St Mary) Churchyard, in War Graves Plot, Gr 1. Fw Schreiber is still listed MIA (D.Drury, burial data).

POW 11 March, 1943 after being bracketed by searchlights over Teesside, and were shot down by a Beaufighter of RAF No. 219 Sq., piloted by F/Lt John Willson, crashing at Great Stainton. Remaining crew (all POW): Uffz Martin Hoffmann, Observer, Uffz Hans Weber, wireless operator and Ofw Gregor Eilbrecht, gunner. The entire crew bailed successfully with wounds, and were promptly captured. Earlier, he crashed his Wk# 4397 at Ulicoten Holland, WNW of Baarle-Nassau, the night of 7/8 February, 1943, cause and pilot/crew disposition unknown (DeSwart). Added: The cause was a belly landing due to engine damage, all safe, including the wounded Observer. Remaining crew: Ofw W.Zacharias, Obs (WIA) (other source: Obsv Uffz Martin Hoffmann (born 04/04/19 in Essen/ Rüttenscheid, CK); Uffz Johann "Hans" Weber, R/O (born 20/03/21 in Karlstein / Niederdonau, CK) and Ofw Gregor Eilbrecht, Gnr (born 07/12/15 in Bödexen / Höxter, added CK) (SGLO).

Injured in a crash 20 September, 1940 after returning from reconnaissance mission to London. Rommels AC have received damage from RAF Spitfires of RAF No. 41 Sq., but was able to limp back to the French countryside, and made a force landing near the Calais-St Omer Road, Pont de Briques. One crew member, Gunner Eduard Leuchs died of injuries 22 September, 1940. The two remaining crew, Oblt Gerd Hoffmann, Observer and Gefr Johann Adam, R/O, were also injured.

WIA 17 May, 1944 when on a test flight after repairs, he was wounded in an attack by P-51s of No.122 Sq., and made an emergency landing at the Aalborg Ost airfield to escape the Mustang. His Mechanic, Gefr Anton Galler, was also wounded. Source: Air War over Denmark. Added: A since found document has revealed that the crew attacked, and severely damaged, a 6000 ton unnamed Trade (Cargo?) ship on 29 January, 1944, near Nettuno. POW 5 May, 1945. WIA 28 October, 1944 when he accidentally rammed another Fw with his "White 1" during combat and bailed with injuries. The other AC managed to land safely. WIA a 2nd time 14 January, 1945 after being shot up by Spitfires near Minden. Unable to find a landing area, and nearly out of fuel, he was burned in a force landing crash near Minden. He flew into internment at Kristainsand, Norway with several other JG-26 pilots. His two victories: a P-38 of 474FG W of Beauvais on 25 August, 1944 and a Tempest of RAF No. 56 or 80 Sq. near Rheine on 22 March, 1945.

MIA 3 October, 1941 after being shot down in "Brown 5" by a Russian Il-2 near Shatalovo, possibly the victim of Lt Sergeyev of 233 IAP. At the time of his death, he was among the leading fighter pilots of JG-51. 258 missions. His first victory, a Spitfire in the Cranbrook area on 7 September, 1940. 55 victories on the Leningrad front, before his unit was returned to the Central combat zone 8 September, 1941. Often flew as wingman for Heinz Bär. Wounded 3 October, 1941 per his Flugbuch. A Reservist called up for active duty, his first and only western victory was a RAF Spitfire on 7 September, 1940, after his 147th combat mission. His first Soviet victory, a SB-2 on 23 June, 1941. He was the first non-com to receive the Oakleaves to the RK, and the first to receice it Posthumously. Bowers/Lednicer, 63 victories. Added: The VDK confirms his MIA status. He is commemorated in the German War Cem. at Rzhev (Rshew), Russia (D.Drury).
