There is a rogue group of copyright infringers who have stolen a much earlier version of my data - from at least 10 years ago - and have the affrontery to publish that, along with using my name, on their poorly researched website. They claim this is the 'original' Kracker Archive, a ridiculous claim since my Archive has been in a state of continuous development for over 30 years and nobody - NOBODY - has the original. They have no right to use my name or my data and readers who come across this nonsense should do nothing to encourage theft of this nature. I am outraged by this blatant theft and misrepresentation of my lifetime's work. The ONLY person I have ever authorized to publish my data and use my name is Kelvin Youngs, who earned my trust and respect many years ago and is authorized by me to publish my work on whichever website he organizes, currently this being its present home at the highly respected Aircrew Remembered.

The black smoke and the red sparks were soon transformed into a ball of fire. The Do 217 dove straight into the sea from an altitude of 8000 feet. The body of Ahrendholz was recovered from the sea 4 miles off the river Tyne, re-buried in the German War Cemetery at Cannock Chase, Staffordshire, Block 3, Gr 285. Added: Flying with the crew of Hptm Paul Strobel, they were killed when they collided with the crew of Lt Hans Auer, as they passed thru a layer of clouds, killing both crews. Remaining Strobel crew: Uffz Walter Fock; Ogefr Georg Arnold and Uffz Ewald Oetken. 447 combat missions, 313on eastern front, and 68 last over four hours, thus counted as doubles, total 515 missions. He was the first Flt Engr to receive the RK (C.König).

On the return flight from an Intruder Mission over England, Alt spotted a dinghy in the water below and circled while the R/O sent out a distress signal to Air Sea Rescue. To the horror of the He 111 H-5 "5J + KS" Werknr 3883 , 8/KG-4 (A.Rosseels) crew in the dingy, the wingtip of the Ju 88 hit the water, sinking immediately, and taking the crew with it. The entire crew perished. Remaining crew (KIC): Uffz Hans Georg Suckow (geb 09/07/1920, Gumbinnen), R/O and Uffz Erwin Willi Korn (geb 11/10/1920, Bitigheim), Gunner. Suckow & Korn are remembered on the Laboe Naval Memorial (D.Drury). Added: The He 111 crew were rescued except for Uffz Karl Brückner, Flt Engr (D.Drury).

This famous bomber ace survived a higher number of combat missions (658) than any other bomber airman in WWII, serving over France, England and Russia. Shot down at least once, into the Channel in September, 1940, and rescued by ASR. During the French Campaign, his He 111 was shot down by a Morane fighter, and he was a brief POW in France until his release upon their surrender. During the Siege at Sevastopol, he flew 15 missions between June 12 & 15, 1942 and 116 total! He was Kdr III/KG-76 in December, 1944, the worlds 1st Jet Bomber Unit. Kdr KG-54 in April, 1945. He also briefly commanded KG(J)-54 and III/KG-76 in May, 1945. His Observer was an Oblt Scholz. Living in Hannover in 2001. Deceased 23 April, 2003 in Uelzen. He was shot down by a Spitfire of RAF No. 41 Sq., piloted by F/Lt Norman Ryder. Benischs AC had been damaged earlier by naval fire and was unable to evade Ryders attacks, and was forced to ditch in the North Sea, being picked up by a Scarborough fishing boat, Silver Line. Remaining crew (all POW): Lt Georg Kempe (WIA), Observer, Uffz Albert Weber, wireless operator, Uffz Alfred Bächle, mechanic and Obstlt Hans Hefele, Grp Kdr II/KG-26, who wanted to see for himself how the recon mission operated! As a result of a well-placed hit from Bächle, Ryder too, was forced to ditch and was rescued by the Hartlepool trawler, Alaskan. Alternate spelling: Benisch.
