There is a rogue group of copyright infringers who have stolen a much earlier version of my data - from at least 10 years ago - and have the affrontery to publish that, along with using my name, on their poorly researched website. MIA June 21, 1942 after hit by flak on a low level mission by Waluiki (Valuyki), east of Kharkov, on the Russian side of the border between Russian and Ukraine, and subsequently forced landed. He was probably taken prisoner. Added: During a road construction project in 2004, his F-4 was found, his remains still inside. The VDK still shows him MIA, and he is commemorated in the German War Cem at Sologubowka, Russia (D.Drury). His first known victory, a Spitfire of RAF No.610 Sq. off Boulogne on 5 March, 1941, during the Battle of Britain. His 2nd, a Spitfire 20 km N of LeTouquet on 10 March, 1941. His 3rd, a Spitfire 20 km N of Cape Blanc Nez on 6 May, 1941. His 4th, a Hurricane 10 km N of Calais on 21 May, 1941. His 1st Soviet victory, a DJ-6 on 22 June, 1941. A DB-3 on 27 June, 1941. A DB-3 on 2 December, 1941. An I-18 on 24 February, 1942. An I-61 on 31 March, 1942. His last two victories, two LaGG-3's 21 June, 1942, prior to being shot down by flak. An additional 20 AC were destroyed on the ground. Scored JG-51s 2000th victory. Mölders successor as Kdr. JG-51. WIA 16 September, 1941, serious enough to be replaced by Günther Lützow.

POW 24 August, 1940 after being shot down over East Langdon, Kent, England, belly landing alongside the Dover-Deal Road. His one known victory, a Spitfire E of Dungeness on 7 July, 1940. His 2nd, a Spitfire W of Cape Gris Nez on 29 July, 1940. His 3rd, a Spitfire along the English coast on 15 August, 1940. His 4th, a Hurricane E of Margate on 24 August, 1940.

The RK was awarded for the successful attack on enemy shipping at Odessa S.U.. Former member of Infantry Regt 17 in 1931. 411 missions, mostly in the East. He was commander of the unit carrying Mölders to Berlin when the He 111 crashed, killing Mölders. Mölders was returning to be amongst the Guard of Honor for the Udet funeral. Retired Bundeswehr officer in 1971. Deceased 27 March, 1991 Munich.

POW 29 May, 1942; his AC was hit and he had to bail out of his F-2 near Szokoloje, south of Lake Ilmen, and was taken prisoner, returned many years later. 506 missions. Of his 66 victories, 9 were RAF. One such victory, his 1st, a Spitfire W of Dover on 11 August, 1940. His 2nd, a Hurricane at Canterbury on 18 August, 1940. A 3rd, a Spitfire 5 km E of Canterbury on 2 September, 1940. Nos. 5 & 6, both Spitfires over England on 18 September, 1940; one of thes was JG-51s 500th victory. His 7th, a Spitfire in the London area on 17 October, 1940. His 8th, a Hurricane near Ashford on 1 December, 1940. His 9th a Hurricane near Dungeness, 8 May, 1941. At times in 1940, he served as Mölders wingman. He was Hermann Joppiens wingman on 25 August, 1941, when Joppien was killed as they attacked Soviet bombers near Bryansk. Bowers/Lednicer, 66 victories. Deceased 1 March, 1986.

One victory in Spain. He sported the Mickey Mouse emblem as a momento of his time in 3J/88 in Spain, where he served as Mölders wingman. His 1st victory was a Morane east of Diedenhöfen, 9 March, 1940. His 2nd, a Blenheim at Landrecies, 18 May, 1940. His 3rd, a LeO-451 at Cambrai-St Quentin on 20 May, 1940. His 4th, a Bloch 151 at Ham/Perrone on 6 June, 1940. His 5th, a Morane southwest of Soissons, 8 June, 1940. A 6th, a Spitfire on 11 August, 1940, no location. a 7th, a Spitfire east of Boulogne on 16 August, 1941, a Stbs/Fw at the time. An 8th, another Spitfire on 21 August, 1941, no location. This "Yellow 8" was lost 15 October, 1940, to his annoyance, by Fw Horst Hellriegel, when Hellriegel belly landed it on the Isle of Wight. A good friend of Rudi Pflanz. Alternate spelling: Jaenisch.

He had been flying as wingman since he was being considered for a Group Commanders position. Repatriated in a prisoner exchange due to his severe wounds after a leg amputation. A Pre-war pilot who served with Osterkamp and Mölders.

He was piloting the aircraft in which he and Mölders were killed in the suburb of Schöngarten, near Breslau, on 22 November, 1941, going to Udets funeral. The cause was bad weather and engine failure on his third landing attempt. His R/O, Ofw Arthur Tenz, was one of two of the five occupants to survive the crash. The other survivor was Mölders Adjutant, Major Paul Wenzel. Added: The third crewman killed was Ofw Hobble. Pilot Kolbe believed buried in Zlotoryja Poland (D.Drury).

One victory was the 1200th victory for Mölders JG-51 on 12 July, 1941 during Operation Barbarossa. His victim was an I-16 of the 168th Fighter Aviation Regt. A Yak-1 NW of Kasch-Boschowo on 3 March, 1942. Two Il-2s on 1 August, 1942. Over 500 combat missions, 13 victories in the West. His 1st victory, a Fokker G-1 over Zevenbergen, 10 May, 1940. His 2nd & 3rd, both Morane 406s at Abbeville on 21 May, 1940. His 4th, a Hurricane at Abbeville on 22 May, 1940. His 5th, a Spitfire at Dover on 28 July, 1940. His 10th, a Spitfire over England on 8 September, 1940. Belly landed the same day at St Inglevert on the beach (ckonigxx). Seriously wounded in Russia in Wk# 8185 on 2 August, 1942, losing an eye, but attempted to remain operational, only to taxi into a landing Ju 52/3m five days later. Served in school and staff positions before being assigned to JG-105 and JG-6. Began his Luftwaffe career as an instructor at Werneuchen, instructing Bulgarian pilot cadets. Bowers/Lednicer, 68 victories. Deceased 4 August, 1988 Matzenbach/Kusel.

MIA 24 April, 1945 after attacking American bombers in his Me 262 near Donauwörth. Last seen being chased by two P-47s. Neither he nor his aircraft have been recovered. 2 Bombers. EL conferred July 20,1941. 300+ combat missions. 5 victories in Spain. His 1st known victory, two Hawk 75s NW of Dinant on 14 May, 1940. His 3rd, a Hawk-75 SE of Charleroi on 15 May, 1940. His 4th, a Hurricane N of Arras on 19 May, 1940. His 5th & 6th, both Morane 406s south of Amiens, 31 May, 1940, while in I/JG-3. Under his command, JG-3 was the 4th Luft Sq. to achieve 1000 aerial victories, behind Mölders, von Maltzahn and Trautloft. His first known Soviet victory, an I-153 on 12 August, 1941. He scored five Soviet victories on 8 October, 1941; 3 Pe-2s and 3 DB-3s. Two I-18s on 10 October, 1941. Three I-16s on 24 October, 1941. His 102nd victory, an I-61 on 21 May, 1942. His 103rd, a LaGG-3 NE of Kalatsch on 29 July, 1942. No. 104, a B-26 near Augsburg on 24 April, 1945. Part of the inner circle called the "Fighter Pilot Conspiracy" towards the end of the war, he avoided execution, as their spokesman, by an outraged Göring. Their ac were painted with the Red Badge of Shame & tail swastikas blackened out. Lützow, the Son of Admiral Lützow, and W. Falck were cousins.

POW 7 October, 1940 after a dogfight with Hurricanes over the southern coast of England. He force landed his Jabo Bf 109E at Winchelsea. He had flown the Bf 110 in the Polish, Scandinavian and French campaigns. His first known victory a Polish PZL-37 at Minsk/Mazowiecki on 5 September, 1939 (Perry Claims). Channel pilot. One known victory, his 8th, a Spitfire in the London area on 9 September, 1940. His 9th, a Hurricane in the Maidstone area on 27 September, 1940. I did not find any of his earlier victories in the OKL Claims. Jager Blatt article.

Joined the Luftwaffe in 1935. Plus 14 victories in Spain (Lufts top scorer), 68 in the West (Battle of Britain) and 73 in Russia. His 1st victory, a Hawk 75A near Sierek, 20 September, 1939. His 2nd, a Blenheim at Klusserath, NE of Trier on 30 October, 1939. His 3rd, a Hurricane 15 km NE of Metz on 22 December, 1939. His 5th, a Morane 12 km SE of Diedenhofen on 3 March, 1940. Escaped serious injury bailing from his burning Bf 109 at Chantilly on 5 June, 1940, being shot down by French Ace Lt. Rene Layragues, becoming a POW. He was released after two weeks when the French capitulated. Known to have flow Bf 109E-4s Wk#s 2404 & 3737. The later, flown by Hptm Asmus was lost over England on 25 October, 1940. He flew 300 Operational flights. EL conferred 9/21/40. S conferred 6/22/41. He was killed 22 Nov., 1941, in an He 111 crash from Crimea due to engine failure near Breslau, on the way to attend the funeral of Gen. Udet. Buried Berlin Invalidenfriedhof. Mölders was the first Fighter Pilot to receive the RK and the RK with Diamonds, the first pilot to achieve 50 & 100 victories, and his JG-51 was 1st to achieve 1000 aerial victories, . 32 victories in WWI. 6 victories in WWII, all in the West (Magnus, states 2 victories). His first victory, a Fokker G-1 over Soesterberg, 12 May, 1940, the first of Stab/JG-51s victories in the West. He claimed a "damaged" Hurricane at Roubaix on 22 May, 1940. Other known victories during the Battle of Britain, two Hurricanes (one on 31 May, 1940), a Blenheim (on 1 June, 1940) and a Spitfire (7/12/40), all over Dunkirk. His last victory, an "unnamed" AC on 13 July, 1940. His WWII victory count may only be four. Sources differ. He was replaced by Mölders as Kdr of JG-51 before his Jafu assignment. Channel Kdr w/Jafu 2. Dismissed 21 December, 1944 for his criticism of the Luft. High Command. Bowers/Lednicer, 38 victories including 32 in WWI. Deceased 2 January, 1975 at Baden-Baden.

MIA (and presumed killed) 22 June, 1941 in Wk# 4189 in the vicinity of Kamenki, near Grodno, S.U., after being rammed by an I-153 Chayka bi-plane of the 127th Fighter Aviation Regt., flown by Lt Petr Kuzmin. Kuzmin was killed and Schellmann bailed successfully, although his fate has remained a mystery. Obermaier suggests he was shot by the NKVD. 150 missions. Plus 12 victories in Spain, second only to the highest scorer in Spain, Werner Mölders. 12 victories in the West and 1 victory in the East, an I-16 on 22 June, 1941. His first victory, a Hurricane at Couly, 5 km east of Rethel, 15 May, 1940. His 2nd, a Lysander southeast of Brüssels, 17 May, 1940. His 3rd, a Lysander W of Tournai on 19 May, 1940. His 4th, a Spitfire at Furnes, E of Dunkirk on 31 May, 1940. His 5th, a Lysander at Dunkirk on 1 June, 1940. His 6th, a Spitfire at Dunkirk on 2 June, 1940. His 7th, a Morane 406 at Compiegne on 3 June, 1940. His 8th, a Blenheim N of Le Harve on 18 July, 1940. His 9th, a Spitfire at Warmwell on 25 August, 1940. No.10, a Spitfire at Wareham on 27 August, 1940. Barbarossa pilot. Also served in I/JG-77 in September, 1939, in Poland, prior to JG-2 assignment.
