There is a rogue group of copyright infringers who have stolen a much earlier version of my data - from at least 10 years ago - and have the affrontery to publish that, along with using my name, on their poorly researched website. They claim this is the 'original' Kracker Archive, a ridiculous claim since my Archive has been in a state of continuous development for over 30 years and nobody - NOBODY - has the original. They have no right to use my name or my data and readers who come across this nonsense should do nothing to encourage theft of this nature. I am outraged by this blatant theft and misrepresentation of my lifetime's work. The ONLY person I have ever authorized to publish my data and use my name is Kelvin Youngs, who earned my trust and respect many years ago and is authorized by me to publish my work on whichever website he organizes, currently this being its present home at the highly respected Aircrew Remembered.

His crew, also KilledInAction (KIA), Gefr Gerhard Denzin, wireless operator and Gefr Rudolf Peters (bur Thornaby-on-Tees, Plot O, Row L, Gr 7), gunner. Two known victories, a Hudson and a Hampden at Wells next to the Sea, 8 April, 1941. His 3rd, a Hampden at Church Fenton, the night of 2-3 May, 1941.

WIA 14 December, 1944 in his Bf 109G-14 Werk # 463111 "Yellow 23" during aerial combat with a Tempest of RAF No. 56 Sq. S of Rheine. His "Yellow 1" was destroyed on the ground during a B-17 raid on Villacoublay. "Yellow 20 destroyed when it overturned during a landing in Bönninghardt; Gehrke only slightly injured. A replacement pilot, he flew his first combat mission on 16 March, 1944. He flew wingman for Fw. Karl Laub. Also, for Major Mietusch on 17 July, 1944 when Mietusch was shot down, through no fault of Gehrkes. On this mission, he scored his first victory, a Liberator, # 41-29331 "Blondies Folly" of the 458BG, 755BS, flown by 2/Lt Neil AJ Peters, but was subsequently shot down by four Thunderbolts of the 356th FG. His 2nd, a B-17 in the Saar-Hünsruck area on 13 April, 1944. His 3rd, a B-17 at Meitingen on 24 April, 1944. A 4th, a Lancaster at Taverny on 6 August, 1944. His 5th, a Spitfire (RAF No 416 Sq) near the Brussels-Evere airfield on 1 January, 1945. Shot down 4 times, the last, in "Yellow 1", 22 Feb., 1945. Hospitalized w/burns until 11/45. Flew Bf 109K-4 in December, 1944. "Bodenplatte" pilot. His personal emblem: "Pikus the Tomcat".

The ac crashed at Leaves Green, Kent, just north of Biggin Hill. Remaining crew (POW/WIA): Hptm Joachim Roth, Stfkpt & Obs; Hptm Gustav Peters (pos unk), Ofw Valentin Geier (pos unk) and Fw Hugo Eberhard, R.O. Buried Werder/Havel Neuere Friedhof, Block E/3/613 (Rosseels). One known victory, his 1st, a B-17 on 8 October, 1943. A 2nd, a B-17 10 km SW of Insel Fano on 9 October, 1943. A 3rd, a "4 mot" at Welda by Warburg on 22 October, 1943. A 4th & 5th on 18 November, 1943; a Halifax N of Laon and a Lancaster SE of Namur. A 6th, a Lancaster at Berlin on 2 December, 1943. Same night, a 7th, a "4 mot" in the Berlin area. On the night of 15 February, 1944, he scored 5 victories, 8 thru 12, three Lancasters and two "4 mot". 26 victories. Bowers/Lednicer, 22 victories. Boiten approx 24 victories.

His military career began in October 1941 with a Signals Company in Norway where he was stationed until 1942. He transferred to Semlin (Zemun, Serbia) to train as a Bordfunker. He became operational with 8. Staffel of Transportgeschwader 2 where he served as a Radio Operator on a Junkers Ju 52 where he flew transport missions from Brindisi, Italy to Corsica. He was awarded the Radio Operators Badge. On September 24th 1943 his Ju 52/M (Werk Nr 10018) was shot down above Corsica in actions against RAF Beaufighters of 39 Sqn, 272 Sqn and 603 Sqn. Peters was killed - aged 20 - along with the pilot, Unteroffizier Negele. Bordschütze Obergefreiter Jäger was wounded. This was a catastrophic day for transport units - 15 aircraft were lost over the southern front from TG-1, TG-2 & TG-4 with TG-2 losing nine of those.Soldbuch images

Prues was found 58 years later in his AC in the marshes at Maribo, and buried in the Soldiers Cemetery in Copenhagen.
