There is a rogue group of copyright infringers who have stolen a much earlier version of my data - from at least 10 years ago - and have the affrontery to publish that, along with using my name, on their poorly researched website. They claim this is the 'original' Kracker Archive, a ridiculous claim since my Archive has been in a state of continuous development for over 30 years and nobody - NOBODY - has the original. They have no right to use my name or my data and readers who come across this nonsense should do nothing to encourage theft of this nature. I am outraged by this blatant theft and misrepresentation of my lifetime's work. Fighter Operational Clasp
POW 27 October, 1940 near Tonbridge after being caught by RAF Hurricanes of No. 605 Sq. His engine severely damaged, he belly landed on a beach near the Lydd water tower, Lydd, Kent. His one first known victory, a Spitfire in the Dover-Folkestone area on 2 September, 1940. He had made 34 raids on London.

The Unteroffizier Arno Zimmermann, German pilot of the Jagdgeschwader JG 54, with 1 air victory during the French Campaign, on a free fighter mission over Kent aboard his Messerschmitt Bf-109E-1 Werk Nümmer 3576 coded '13 White' of 7./JG 54, was shot down by Hurricanes from 605 Sqn and had to make an emergency landing on a beach near Lydd. He is captured. The victory goes to Flight Sergeant E. W. Wright.

He made his way back to Witkowicethe next day, only to be brought down twice more during the course of the next week. Added: His "Red 2" known to belli-land, cause & location not mentioned (Pictured on Luftfahrt-Archiv Hafner).

Bomber Clasp in Gold
KilledInAction (KIA) 10 April, 1945 in a dogfight over Vienna with Soviet fighters near Deutsch-Wagram. He crashed into a railway embankment in the vicinity of the Aspern airfield and bled to death as the result of a very serious back wound probably by a Flak grenade. Buried in Vienna Zentralfriedhof, Grp 97, Blk 5, Row 24, Gr 119. His first known victory, a LaGG-5 on 28 April, 1944 (Added: according to a letter of Wenger his first confirmed kill was a Pe-2 on his 201st mission on 24-25?/03/44. CKönig). 372 missions, including 71 fighter bomber missions. Added: SD by an American fighter 27 June, 1944, 55km from Bucharest. He was reported to have claimed two additional Russian victories over Vienna on April 4th & 5th, 1945 (Carolyn Yeager/Willi Wenger online article). Added: During heavy Jabo missions on the English south coast against English warships, Wenger sank one (other src 2) destroyers and a submarine escort ship with a total of 20,000 GRT Merchant shipping space. He also took part very successfully in the fight against the Allied landing at Dieppe, where he seriously damaged the destroyer "BERKELEY", which was later sunk by its own crew. After being wounded by Allied bombing raids and spending several months in a hospital, he returned to his unit in the southern section of the Eastern Front at the end of October 1944. His 300th combat mission in May 1944. > 400 combat missions: according to a letter of Wenger to his father dated 17/12/44 he was presented champagne from his commander Major Götz Baumann on the occasion of his 400th combat flight. Had to make a belly landing on first mission after the christmas holidays 1944. (CKönig)

One known victory, a Fairey Battle near St. Trond*, on 10 May, 1940. * Another source claimed the AC was a Belgian Fox. OKL states it was a Battle. His 2nd, a Spitfire at Boulogne, 23 May, 1940. His 3rd, a Spitfire on 30 August, 1940, no location. His 4th, a Hurricane over England on 5 September, 1940.

One of his many multiple victories in the Soviet Union, a LaGG-5 and a Yak-1 on 3 June, 1943. Two LaGG-5s on 12 June, 1943. Three LaGG-5s and a Yak-1 on 7 July, 1943. His G-5 crashed east of Urk Holland on 18 October, 1943; force landing, fuel shortage, pilot OK (DeSwart). Two Yak-9s on 5 May, 1944. 5 victories in the West. One known triple victory, 3 P-38s on 11 February, 1944, his 35th, 36th & 37th, all E of St. Vith. A Soviet La-5 on 30 April, 1944. A Yak-9 and two P-39s on 19 June, 1944. Many multiple Soviet victories in the last months of 1944. His 150th victory, an "e/a" (most likely an Il-2) on 17 February, 1945. One of the most successful of the younger generation of pilots. He scored the last victory of JG-54, his 157th, at 7:45 AM on 8 May, 1945, a Pe 2 over the Ost See (with 2 of his ground crew in the fuselage) as they made the treacherous and long flight from Libau, across the Baltic, into British captivity in Schleswig-Holstein or Denmark. Accompanying him was his wingman, Fw Hangebrauk, also with passengers. Lived in Columbia after the war. Deceased 4 September, 2004.

Two more SB-2s on 24 June, 1941. A Yak-1 on 22 July, 1942. Two MiG-3s on 5 August, 1942. A Pe-2 on 30 December, 1942. A LaGG-3 on 7 January, 1943. Two LaGG-5s and three Il-2s on 14 January, 1943. A LaGG-3 and a LaGG-5 on 21 February, 1943. Two Il-2s on 1 May, 1943. Two Il-2s on 3 February, 1944. Five La-5s on 7 February, 1944. An La-5 and a Yak-9 on 6 March, 1944. Two Yak-9s two P-39s, an Il-2 and a Pe-2 on 14 September, 1944. Just a few of many multiples! In addition, he sank two Motor Torpedo Boats. In 1/JG-54, he was shot down with wounds in Wk# 6043 over Jever, France. While in 2/JG-54, he was seriously injured in a crash in Wk# 5410 at the Siverskaya airfield. During the summer of 1943, he served as a Fighter Instructor while in France. In 3/JG-54 in March of 1944, he flew Fw 190A-6 "White 1". He had been nominated for the EL. Deceased 8 April, 1999 in Greven (CK)

One known victory, his 1st, a Spitfire 5 km east of Dunkirk on 11 October, 1942. Two Soviet Il-2s on 30 December, 1942. A Soviet LaGG-5 on 23 January, 1943. A LaGG-3 on 27 January, 1943. An Il-2 on 15 February, 1943. Another western, a Mosquito northwest of Ghent on 11 April, 1943. His 10th, a B-17 near Douai/Valenciennes on 20 October, 1943, either 41-24629 or "Charlie Horse, of the 303BG, 358BS. Both AC crashed at Cambrai. Steindl was very popular among the young pilots.

One of several Estonian pilots attempting to avoid Russian captivity by fleeing to Sweden on 5 May, 1945. Due to bad weather, he and Lt Edgar Martensohn landed in Rodenes Norway and were taken prisoner by British forces.

Added: Ritterkreuz awarded in recognition of his successes on the Eastern front as a bomber pilot, which included destroyed: 37 tanks, 132 trucks, 77 rail cars, 7 Flak positions, 2 railway bridges. Transferred to the Jagdwaffe in 09/44 (CK)

Ultsch 6 September, 1940. In April of 1941, both Werk# 5585 "KB+LX" "Wh ?" and 1177 "Wh ?" crashed near the Pancevo, (Loc?) Airfield, flown by Scholz. Added: crash-landed on 01/08/41 after shooting down a DB-3 (CK) Pilot disposition and crash circumstances are unknown in either incident. He obviously survived and went on to command JG-5 as of July, 1944. Also served in Poland, France, Battle of Britain and the Soviet Union. His first known Soviet victory, a SB-2 on 23 June, 1941. On 12 Nov., 1943, "Quax" was forced to abandon his "Green 2" at 70 meters (230 ft) due to combat with Il-2s at Nevel and was severely injured, suffering two broken legs and a skull fracture. His friend Nowotny rode with him to the hospital. Quax witnessed the crash of Nowotny in his Me 262. Together with Toni Döbele and Rudi Rademacher, "Nowi" & Quax" were the most feared formation in the Luftwaffe. On 30 March, 1945, after his last two victories, B-17s N of Lüneburg, he was shot down by P-51s in his Me 262, bailed and struck the tailplane. Despite his injuries, he managed to deploy his chute, but lost his left leg subsequently. 536 combat missions. 11 victories in the Me 262. His first known Soviet victory, a Yak-1 on 12 May, 1942, a Gefr. at the time. A 2nd Soviet, a Pe-2 on 13 August, 1942. An Il-2 on 23 February, 1943. An Il-2 on 15 March, 1943. His 36th, a B-17 on 3 Feb., 1945. His 40th, a B-17, one of two, near Rathenow on 18 March, 1945. The Nickname "Quax" was given to Schnörrer because he crashed 3 Bf 109s on landings. "Quax" was an accident-prone cartoon character at the time. Deceased 25 September, 1979 at Nuremberg. Added: On 21/02/45 uninjured in crash on take-off from Parchim due to tire damage. His 1st victory, a Hawk-75A at Dunkirk on 28 May, 1940. His 2nd, a "Torp Flgz." at Dunkirk on 29 May, 1940. His 3rd, a Hawk-75 30 km SW of Beauvais on 8 June, 1940. His first known Soviet victory, a SB-2 on 14 August, 1941. Another, an I-16 on 11 September, 1941. On 19 January, 1942 in his F-2 Werk# 5489, the AC sustained 20% damage near Wjenjadolowo, pilot disposition unknown. Another Soviet victory, an I-18 on 28 January, 1942. Also flew a BF 109F-2 "Yellow 1 in 4 Staffel in August 1941. Added: After being shot down by Flak with serious head wounds on 23/02/42 he wasnt posted to a front line anymore but worked in the staff of the General der Jagdflieger until the end of WW2. One known victory, the B-17 42-39759 "Sarah Jane" of 390BG, 571BS, in 2 Staffel, on 30 December, 1943, flown by 2/Lt Campbell C. Brigman Jr. It crashed near Vimy France. All the crew survived. Stayed with JG-26 until V-E Day. POW 5 May, 1945. He flew into internment at Kristainsand, Norway with several other JG-26 pilots. On 12 August, 1943, "Uffz" Schild flew his 115th mission.His 3rd victory was recorded on 30 January, 1944, a P-38 at Wesel-Xanten. April 44, he was promoted to Lt.. His 4th, a P-38 at Evreux on 20 June, 1944. A P-51 at Beauvais on 18 August, 1944. A P-47 at Maastricht on 11 September, 1944. A P-51 at Kerken on 17 September, 1944. A P-51 N of Emmerich on 19 September, 1944. Severely wounded (3rd time) on 12 Oct., 1944 by P-51s (thought to have been Chuck Yeager), he didnt return to flight status until April 45. 222 missions, the last being flown on 4 May, 1945. His remains would be discovered nearly 40 years later, in the ground at Hurst Farm, on Mountain St. Chilham, Kent. Buried Cannock Chase, Block 8, Gr 167 (M.Croft). One known victory, his 1st, a Potez 63 15 km southwest of Arras, 24 May, 1940. His 2nd, a Hurricane in the Biggin Hill area on 18 August, 1940. Added: The crash was witnessed by Mrs Dorothy "Dolly" Hill, whose Son, Raymond, has provided the detail to Aircrew Remembered as a "Personal Story".

More than a year later, he was parachuted into the German Sector after convincing his captors that he was converted to Communism. One known victory, a Pe-3 of 95 IAP on 26 April, 1942. Magnus, 30 victories. Alternate spelling: Pfrängerille. Added: Pfränger was shot down by captain Alagurov from 2 GKAP. Deceased in 1995. Had presumably more victories in his time in 1941 with JG 77. He shot down at least 23 Hurricane if not more in his time in hte 6./JG 54. First victories known in 6./JG 5 are from 24/03/42 (2 Hurricanes), the next (also a Doublette) were 2 SB-2 in the Alakutti area on 04/04/42. KilledInAction (KIA) 9 August, 1942 in Werknr 10438 by a swarm of nine Russian P-40 fighters near Amossovo, Russia. He died in his A/C after taking canopy hits. Channel pilot. Max was also known to be a "Recon" pilot, and had many unconfirmed victories (per Hannes Wiese). 300+ combat missions. His 1st known victory, a Morane 406 W of Peronne on 20 May, 1940, while in 1/JG-21. His 2nd, a Spitfire on 12 August, 1940. His 4th, a Spitfire on 30 August, 1940, no location. His 5th, a Hurricane over England on 5 September, 1940. Shot down 1 September, 1940 in an E-4 by a Spitfire over the Boulogne Canal. Downed 5 times. Shot down with wounds 12 May, 1942 in Werknr 13125. He was the 2nd JG 54 pilot to achieve 100 victories (12/05/42) in Werknr 13114, the same day he was wounded by shell fragments. Countless numerous victories. His first known Soviet victories, both SB-2s, on 23 June, 1941. He downed JG-54s 1000th victory on 1 August, 1941, most likely in an F-2 (or F-4) "White 2", while in 7 Staffel. He also flew a Bf 109E-4 "White 2" in 7 Staffel, 1940. Bowers/Lednicer, 102 vics. Added: On May 12, 1942 he was the 6th pilot ever to reach 100th victories. However, he was seriously wounded in the right thigh and forearm on this combat tour. It was only with difficulty that he managed to return to the airfield and half unconsciously land and was immediately operated in a field hospital. Returned one day before he was KIA on 09/08/42. KilledInAction (KIA) 14 February, 1945, in # 960282, in aerial combat with eight Il-2s in Tukum Kurland. His A-8 plummeted to earth trailing a long sheet of flames, Kittel having no chance to bail. EL conferred on 14 April, 1944. 583 combat missions. All 267 victories in the East. His first known Soviet victories, two SB-2s on 24 June, 1941. Another of his many multiples, a LaGG-3, a LaGG-5, an I-180 and a Pe-2 on 19 February, 1943. The most successful pilot of JG-54! Six victories on 12 January, 1943, one of many multiples. Germanys 4th ranked fighter Ace. Shot down twice. On 15 March, 1943, after downing his 47th, a MiG-3, he managed to escape Russian confinement being downed 60 km behind Soviet lines in Fw 190A-4 #(14)2481 over Dzukste Kurland. took 3 days to return thru the bitter cold. Bailed safely from F-2 #12725 "NI+EY" lost at Spiekeroog 5/31/41 due to tech diff. Scored JG-54s 4000th victory (his 39th), 19 February, 1943. Scored his 100 victory on 14/09/43. Also flew a Bf 109F-2 "Blk 8" in I/JG-54 in May 1942. Flew A-6 "Yellow 5" in 9/44. His last victory, his 267th, was an Il-2 at Dzukste on 14 February, 1945, just before he was killed. Nick-named "the Quiet NCO" or "Butcher Killer".

WIA 1 June, 1940 in an E-1 after aerial combat with a Hurricane. Keller was nicknamed "Bombenkeller". One known victory, his 1st, a Blenheim Mk IV of No.21 Sq., at Ostende, on 23 July, 1941. His 2nd victory, a Spitfire at Watten on 27 September, 1941. He was wounded in aerial combat with a Hurricane over Dunkirk on 1 June, 1940. Killed 28 October, 1943 when he crashed into the sea off Biarritz, southern France. Only the AC losses are known; on 1 January, 1942, Werk# 6773 was declared an 80% loss at the Siwerskaja S.U. airfield. His first known Soviet victory, an I-16 Rata on 29 March, 1942. On 17 April, 1943, Werk# 16122 was declared 40% damaged at Bassum. Both were flown by Höger and the extent of his injuries are unknown. He is thought to have had one or two victories, all in Russia.

Hauptmann Kurt Capesius was an Austrian who joined the Luftwaffe in May 1938. He underwent initial training at the Luftwaffe academy at Berlin-Gatow, followed by spells at a training school at Celle and an instrument school at Wien. Initially, he flew as a fighter pilot with I./JG 134 and then II./JG 54, also based at Wien, but in April 1940 he transferred to 9./KG 51. Capesius took part in missions flying the Jun88 over the British Isles, the Balkans and the Soviet Union. Shortly after the invasion of the USSR, however, he was appointed Staffelkapitän of 10./KG 51, where he was responsible for training replacement crews. Capesius later returned to 9. Staffel and flew many sorties over the Black Sea and Stalingrad. He was awarded the Knight’s Cross on 30 November 1944

Ditched in Cherbourg Harbor on 21 March, 1941 in his Bu 131 trainer, due to engine failure. Shot down 23 June, 1941 in Wk# 9207 by his SB-2 victims rear gunner, deep behind enemy lines, but managed to return two days later. Lost another F2 Wk# 12696 "Yellow 1" on 20 August, 1941, when his radiator was hit. Shot down with wounds 17 April, 1943 by B-17 gunners, while flying Werk# 14935 "Yellow 1+I" near Bremen. 1 Bomber (rammed 4/17/43). Approx 700 combat missions. 21 victories in the West. Flew Bf 109E-4 "White 1" of 7/JG-54 in Sept. 1940. His first victory, a Gladiator over Tongeren, 10 May, 1940 while in 3/JG-21 (later 9/JG-54). His 2nd, a Dewoitine at Henin-Lietard on 24 May, 1940. His 5th, a Blenheim 60 km W of Rotterdam on 26 June, 1940. No.10, Hurricane at Eastchurch 8/31/40. Barbarossa pilot, crashing twice behind the lines, but evading capture. His first known Soviet victory, a SB-2 on 23 June, 1941. Downed four SB-3s on 30 June, 1941. Survived the war, and as of 2001, lives in his hometown of Freiburg. In July 1939 he was with 3./JG 21 (later 9./JG 54) and on the 10.5.1940 achieved his first victory by shooting down a Gloster-Gladiator. At the end of the France-expedition, he had shot down four aircraft, and gained a further fourteen victories during the Battle of Britain. On the 10.10.1940, he was promoted to Staffelkapitan of 8./JG 54 and joined 9./JG 54 on the 28.11.1940. He was awarded the Knight's Cross in March 1941 having scored 19 victories. During the Balkan Peninsula expedition, he shot down two Yugoslavian airplanes while flying Bf 109s. While flying on the Eastern Front, he had increased his tally of victories to 39 by the end of 1941, including four Russian bombers on the 30.6.1941, achieving his 50th victory on the 29.9.1942. His squadron was transferred to the West, and on the 17.4.1943 he accidentally rammed a B-17 Flying Fortress while making a head on attack thereby scoring his 57th victories and later shot down a Spitfire. On the 1.8.1943, he was posted to command IV./JG 51 and returned to the Eastern front. From 9.5.1944, he led II./JG 3 in the defence of the Reich and on the invasion front. In August 1944 he was made commander of II./EJG 2 and then joined JV 44 Galland on the 1 April 1945 flying Me 262 jet aircraft until the end of the war. Approximately 700 missions, 60 air victories (37 in the East)
