Schreiber and Hoffmann were being attended to by ASR inside the floating fuselage, when waves began breaking over the AC, and rescue efforts had to be aborted. The body of Ofw Hoffmann did wash ashore later in the day, and was buried at Brandesburton (St Mary) Churchyard, in War Graves Plot, Gr 1. Fw Schreiber is still listed MIA (D.Drury, burial data). |
