* NOTE ON DATES: IMPORTANT: For consistency, the Date is given as the date the mission TOOK OFF since the precise time of a loss is not always certain. Take Off date is unambigous and fixed in the official records, but obviously in those cases where the incident occurred before midnight UK time, then the Take Off Date will be the same as the Incident Date. Of course, most Bomber Command missions flew through midnight, therefore a Luftwaffe claim against a plane - or a locally generated crash report - may record the incident as occurring on the day following our Take Off Date. Bear this in mind when cross-referencing to our Luftwaffe Victories by Name/Date Database and other Luftwaffe sources. In some cases other sources may quote the date following our date, using locally generated reports as their source. To add to the potential for confusion, remember to take into account a Luftwaffe recorded date will be in local time, 1 hour ahead of UK time. When we discover a validated Incident Date we change our record if necessary

Archiwum Polish DatabaseBorn in the town of Piasek to the family of Julian and Bronisława - W. Grudniak). In August 1938, he completed a gliding course in Ustianowa. Transferred to the Aviation Cadet School in Dęblin. After the start of the war, on September 19, 1939 crossed the Hungarian border with the fourth unit under the command of Capt. Pentz. Va Yugoslavia, he reached the port of Piraeus in Greece on board S.S. Pulaski, arrived in Marseilles on October 23, 1039. In August 1940, sent to the Airmen's Camp in Blackpool, England. A year later he was transferred to 305 Sqd Bomber Squadron "Ziemia Wielkopolska".

Abschussmeldung (Claim message) bears a hand-written note by OKL “wird nict anerkannt" (will not be confirmed). Over the target both engines were hit by flak and the a/c then entered a spin. The pilot managed to regain control at 5,000ft. Due to the damage they set course for Sweden and crashed landed at Ystad at 0300.Interned. Returned to the UK 14 February 1943

Died 13.01.1964. He died in the Bermuda Triangle being the helmsman of the yacht "Enchantress". He was the first Pole who sailed alone across the Atlantic (in 1959 on the yacht "Tethys").
