The 1st, Eli Molnar, was able to parachute and be hidden by the resistance. The second, David Yardley, was ejected on impact with the ground. Wounded, he was transported by villagers - on the tail of the plane - to be treated at the hospices. Found by the Germans, he will be taken prisoner of war. The Germans had initially found only two bodies in the aircraft cabin. Thinking therefore that a good part of the crew had been hidden, the Germans organised a raid in retaliation by arresting 22 Rebecquois. Deported to the Sachsenhausen camp, three never returned: Giovanni and Giuseppe Vechiatto as well as Louis Deneyer.
